You can gift a store item to any one of your clients, friends or fellow instructors. What's neat is that the store item does not need to be published (public), which means you can create store items strictly to those that you choose to give them to.
To get started, first create your store item. See this help article to learn how to create a store item. Once your store item has been created, go to the details of the store item.
Next, click on the "Give this package to someone" button.
This brings up a screen (see below) where you can enter the recipient's name and email address, which are required. You can optionally include a message that will be sent in the purchase claim email. Finally, you can set an expiration date for the purchase. If you do not set this, it will default to the expiration policy of the store item. This allows you to override an expiration date if you want to give someone extended or limited access to the store item.
Once you hit "Send", you have given the store item to someone. This means that the recipient will get an email with links to claim the purchase. They need to complete this step before they can start using the purchase. See this article for instructions on how clients can claim their gift.
That's all there is to it! A very flexible way to provide free trials, thank you rewards, etc.
