Use your existing 123 Reg domain on OfferingTree

Connect your 123-reg domain to your OfferingTree site by updating your domain's DNS settings. This allows you to maintain ownership of your domain and continue to renew it directly through 123-reg. You will continue to be responsible for paying for your domain through 123-reg.

Here's how:

1. Log in to 123-reg: Go to 123-reg.co.uk (or your appropriate 123-reg regional site) and log in to your account.

2. Manage Domains: Navigate to the section for managing your domains. This might be called "My Domains," "Domain Management," or similar.

3. Select Your Domain: Choose the domain you want to connect to OfferingTree.

4. Advanced DNS Settings or Edit Zone File: Look for a section called "Advanced DNS," "DNS Management," "Edit Zone File," or similar. You'll need access to the advanced DNS settings.

5. Add/Edit DNS Records: You'll need to add or edit two records:

   • WWW CNAME Record:

     • If a CNAME record for "www" exists: Find it and edit it.
     • If a CNAME record for "www" doesn't exist: Add a new record.
     • Type: CNAME
     • Host/Name: www
     • Value/Points to/Target: customdomains.offeringtree.com

   • @ A Record (for your root domain):

     • If an A record for "@" or your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.co.uk) exists: Find it and edit it.
     • If an A record for "@" or your root domain doesn't exist: Add a new record.
     • Type: A
     • Host/Name: @ (or your root domain)
     • Value/Points to/IP Address: 35.209.110.2

6. Save Changes: Save the changes you've made to the DNS records.

7. Contact OfferingTree: Email us at support@offeringtree.com to let us know you've completed these steps. We'll then finalize the connection on our end. Please allow up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.

Important Notes for 123-reg:

• 123-reg Interface: 123-reg's interface might vary slightly. If you have trouble finding the correct settings, consult their help documentation or contact their support.
• Zone File vs. Individual Records: 123-reg might present your DNS records in a "zone file" format, or they might allow you to add/edit individual records. The principles are the same; you just need to locate the correct place to add the CNAME and A records.
• Propagation: After saving your DNS changes, it can take some time for them to propagate across the internet. Be patient.
• Contact OfferingTree: It's essential to contact OfferingTree after making the DNS changes so we can complete the setup.
• Support: If you have any trouble, contact 123-reg's customer support for assistance. They are the best resource for questions about their specific interface.
• Root Domain: The "@" symbol often represents your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.co.uk). Some providers might use a different way to indicate the root domain, so check their documentation or contact support if you're not sure. They might recommend setting up a redirect for the root domain to the www subdomain.
