Connect your Weebly domain to your OfferingTree site by updating your domain's DNS settings. This allows you to maintain ownership of your domain and continue to renew it directly through Weebly. You will continue to be responsible for paying for your domain through Weebly.
Here's how:
-
Log in to Weebly: Go to Weebly.com and log in to your account.
-
Edit Your Site: Select the site you want to connect to OfferingTree and click "Edit Site."
-
Go to Settings: In the Weebly editor, click on "Settings" in the top menu.
-
Domains: In the left-hand menu of the Settings page, click on "Domains."
-
Advanced Settings (if applicable): Weebly's domain settings can sometimes be a bit tricky. If you see an "Advanced Settings" or "External DNS" option, click on it. If your domain is managed directly through Weebly and you don't see these advanced options you will need to add a subdomain like [invalid URL removed].
-
Add/Edit DNS Records: You'll need to add or edit two DNS records:
-
WWW CNAME Record:
- If a CNAME record for "www" exists: Find it and edit it.
- If a CNAME record for "www" doesn't exist: Add a new record.
- Type:
CNAME
- Host/Name:
www
- Value/Target:
customdomains.offeringtree.com
-
@ A Record (for your root domain):
- If an A record for "@" or your root domain (e.g.,
yourdomain.com
) exists: Find it and edit it. - If an A record for "@" or your root domain doesn't exist: Add a new record.
- Type:
A
- Host/Name:
@
(or your root domain) - Value/Points to:
35.209.110.2
- If an A record for "@" or your root domain (e.g.,
-
-
Save Changes: Save the changes you've made to the DNS records.
-
Contact OfferingTree: Email us at support@offeringtree.com to let us know you've completed these steps. We'll then finalize the connection on our end. Please allow up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.
Important Notes for Weebly:
- Weebly's Domain Management: Weebly sometimes manages domains in a way that makes direct DNS editing unavailable. If you can't find clear options to add CNAME and A records, it's possible that your domain is being managed differently. You may need to contact Weebly support to see if you can use an external DNS. If you are unable to edit the DNS records you will need to add a subdomain to your offering tree site such as [invalid URL removed] and use that as the custom domain.
- Propagation: After saving your DNS changes, it can take some time for them to propagate across the internet. Be patient.
- Contact OfferingTree: It's essential to contact OfferingTree after making the DNS changes so we can complete the setup.
- Support: If you have any trouble, contact Weebly's customer support for assistance. They are the best resource for questions about their specific interface.
- Root Domain: The "@" symbol often represents your root domain (e.g.,
yourdomain.com
). Some providers might use a different way to indicate the root domain, so check their documentation or contact support if you're not sure.
