How to use a domain purchased from Squarespace on OfferingTree

To use a domain that you purchased on Squarespace on OfferingTree, you have a couple of options:

1. Point your domain to your OfferingTree site

You can configure the domain that you purchased on Squarespace to point to your OfferingTree site by setting what is known as a CNAME record. Here are instructions from Squarespace to manage your DNS settings: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002101888#toc-cname-records

Add a new custom CNAME record using www for the host and customdomains.offeringtree.com for the "data" field.

Once you have set this up, please contact us at support@offeringtree.com and let us know the domain you would like to use, and we'll finish the setup on our end.

Handle Domain Redirect

Do the following to redirect your root domain yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com

1. Open your domains dashboard.

2. Click the domain you're editing.

3. Scroll down to Domain Forwarding and select Manage.

4. In the Forward Domain pop-up window, enter @ in the Forward from field.

5. Enter the full URL of the domain you’d like to forward to in the Forward to field. For example, to forward exampledomain.net to yourdomain.com, enter the full URL, www.yourdomain.com.

6. Under Advanced Options, select this move will be a Temporary redirect (302)

7. Under Forwarding over SSL, it's recommended to keep SSL On selected. To learn more, visit Understanding SSL certificates.

8. Click Save.

2. Transfer the domain over to OfferingTree

This process involves moving your domain off your Squarespace account and into your OfferingTree account and can take up to 7 days. In order to do this, you should have had your domain on Squarespace for at least 60 days.

You'll need to unlock your domain on Squarespace and request an authorization code to initiate this process. Here are the instructions from Squarespace to do this: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812338-Transferring-a-domain-away-from-Squarespace

Once you have this authorization code, please send it to us at support@offeringtree.com to initiate the transfer. Kindly note that there is a one-time charge of $15 for the transfer.
