Have you ever wanted to add a custom message to the confirmation or reminder emails that are sent automatically to people who sign up for your Offerings? This article will show you how you can do that and more. This article will cover:

By default, OfferingTree sends automatic confirmation and 24-hour reminder emails for all your appointment, event series and event registrants. Keep reading to see how you can customize these notifications to fit your business.
Accessing Notification Settings for Your Appointment, Event or Event Series
When you are creating or editing your appointment information for 1-on-1 appointments or creating an event series or event, there will be a button to Show Additional Registration Settings. Click on that to reveal the additional settings. One of the settings will be a checkbox to Customize Registration Notifications. If you check that box, you will see options to customize and add additional notifications that are automatically sent out by the system.
NOTE: Notification settings for an event series are slightly different. When creating or editing the series itself you can customize the registration notification. You can add notifications about the events within the series when creating and editing the events. When adding or editing events in a series, you'll see the checkbox to customize notifications without expanding additional settings, and from there you can customize notifications for the events within the series.
How to add a custom message to the notification email
Once you have checked the Customize Registration Notifications checkbox you will see what notifications are automatically sent out by the system. There is a notification sent out at the time of registration and a 24-hour reminder notification. You can add a custom message to either of these notifications by:
- Pressing the Edit button next to the Email checkbox.
- Adding a custom subject line and email message. You can also add attachments to the email.
- Save the event, series or appointment. Make sure to do this step so that your custom message saves!
Preview Your Custom Email Message
You can also preview the customized email so you know exactly what it will look like when your clients receive it. Note that when you are creating an event, or an appointment, you will need to create the event or appointment before you can preview the email.
How to add additional notifications like a 1-hour reminder or a thank you message
If the 24-hour reminder notification isn't enough, no problem, you can add a reminder at any time before the time you meet with your client or student. If you want to send an automatic check-in email or text message after you meet, you can do that too! Simply add notifications as shown below.
As you can see from the animation above, you can add a notification by pressing the Add button and then customizing the notification by setting when the notification is sent in relation to the start time of your event or appointment. You can choose to send the notification before or after the start of your meeting. You can also send the notification as an email or a text or both. Note that text messages are only available if you are on the Pro Plan.
If you add a notification, it will default to OfferingTree's automatic reminder message format unless you click the Edit button next to the checkbox for either Email or Text. Once you click the Edit button, you can then add a custom subject line and message to the email or the text message.
You can turn off a notification by unchecking either Email or Text.
You can remove a notification by pressing the Trash icon.
How to send a text message (SMS) notification
For customers on our Pro Plan, you have the ability to send notifications as a text message right to your client's phone. Text messages are much more likely to be opened and read in a timely manner.
To send the notification as a text message, check the Text checkbox. There is default reminder info sent and you can add an additional custom message. Just press the Edit button next to the checkbox to customize the message.
