Sometimes, you may have a landing page where you encourage prospective clients to submit their email addresses by providing them with a freebie. Or, you may have them sign up for a waitlist using a signup form on your landing page. You may want to trigger an email sequence that goes out when someone fills out this form; this can be done through an automation that is triggered when a contact tag is added.
View the video below to learn how to create a functional landing page with an automation, or if you prefer reading how to do this, scroll past the video.
Step 1: Create a contact tag that will be applied to these signups
To set this up, first, create a contact tag that we'll attach to anyone submitting this signup form. To do this, go to your "Contacts" page, click on "Manage Tags" and click "Create Tag". Give this tag a descriptive title. We'll automatically tag anyone who signs up on your landing page with this tag.
Step 2: Tag the sign-ups on your landing page with the new tag
Next, build out your landing page and include a "Newsletter Signup" block that will allow you to capture the prospective client's name and email. Under the settings for the block, ensure that you apply the new tag that you created to anyone who fills out the form.
Step 3: Build out an automation that is triggered when this form is filled
Finally, you'll need to build out an automation to send out your email sequence. You can start with a blank automation. The trigger that will have your prospective clients enter the automation will be "Contact Tag Added" and you'll need to select the new tag that you created. This will ensure that only contacts that have this tag added to them will enter the automation.
Once you have the trigger setup, you can build out your email sequence by adding the appropriate "Add a delay" and "Send an email" blocks.
A landing page signup email sequence is a powerful way to bring prospective customers to your business. If you have any questions about setting this up, please reach out to support@offeringtree.com.
