On all Studio Plans, once Pay Rates are created, the next step is assigning them to your staff and knowing how to override them when needed. OfferingTree gives you flexibility at every level — from a staff member's default profile, to individual scheduled classes, to specific appointment types.
Step 1: Assign a Default Pay Rate to a Staff Member
- Go to your Staff Members list.
- Click on a staff member to edit their profile.
- Under Pay Rate, choose from one of the existing pay rates from the drop down, leave the rate at their default pay rate, add a new one, or choose "No Pay Rate" to have them not get paid for this particular class.
- If this class is repeating, you can choose to save this override for the repeating occurrences of this class as well.
- Click Save.
This becomes their default rate and will automatically apply every time they are added to a scheduled session.
Step 2: Override Pay Rate When Scheduling a Class
When adding a staff member to a specific event, you can swap their rate without changing their profile default.
- Open the event in your Schedule.
- Navigate to the Staff section of the event.
- Select the staff member — their default pay rate will pre-populate automatically.
- Under Manage Staff Pay Rate for Event, choose from one of the existing pay rates from the drop down, leave the rate at their default pay rate, add a new one, or choose "No Pay Rate" to have them not get paid for this particular class.
- If this class is repeating, you can choose to save this override for the repeating occurrences of this class as well.
- You can also select No Pay Rate to exclude pay tracking for that session entirely.
Note: This change only applies to that specific event and won't affect the staff member's default rate on their profile.
Step 3: Override Pay Rate for 1-on-1 Appointments
For appointment-based sessions, pay rates can be set or overridden per staff member directly within the appointment settings.
- Go to your appointment based Offering and click Edit.
- Scroll down to the Enable 1-on-1 Appointments section.
- Find the Staff section and locate the staff member listed under the schedule.
- Under Manage Staff Pay Rate for Appointment, choose from one of the existing pay rates from the drop down, leave the rate at their default pay rate, add a new one, or choose "No Pay Rate" to have them not get paid for this particular class.
- If this class is repeating, you can choose to save this override for the repeating occurrences of this class as well.
💡 This is useful if a staff member runs both group classes and private sessions that are compensated differently.
