There are several ways to add images to your site — through the media library, directly onto a page, or as a background. Here's a full breakdown of your options.
The Media Library
Before adding images to your pages, it helps to have them organised in your media library.
- Upload your images to the media library in advance so they're ready to use anywhere on your site
- Favourite images (like brand photos or logos) so they're easy to find and reuse
- Give images clear titles so you can search for them by name
- Use the filter to separate images from videos and other media files
Changing a Background Image on a Page Section
Most templates include sections with background images that you can swap out.
- Open the page you want to edit and click on the section
- Click Edit and select Background Image
- Delete the existing image or click Change Media to replace it
- Upload a new photo or choose one already in your media library
- Adjust the following settings to get it looking right:
- Brightness — control how much the image shows beneath any overlay colour
- Focus — choose which part of the image to highlight: top, top 25%, center, bottom, etc.
- Alignment — align the image left, center, right, or anywhere in between
- Fit — choose to cover (fills the space, no gaps) or contain (shows full image, may leave gaps)
- Confirm your selection and save the page
Adding an Image Block or Gallery to a Page
You can insert a standalone image or a gallery anywhere on a page.
- Click the + icon where you'd like to add content and search for "image"
- Choose to add a single image or an image gallery
- Once added, click the image block to edit it and select your photo
Single image settings:
- Swap the photo for any uploaded image
- Make the image downloadable for visitors
- Add alt text to describe the image (helps with accessibility and SEO)
- Add a caption that displays underneath the photo
- Set alignment to left, center, or right
- Add a link that opens in a new tab
- Adjust the block width to make the image smaller on screen
- Change the padding around the image section
Note: While editing, the image may show its file name or title — this won't appear to visitors once the page is saved.
Editing Images in Pre-Built Design Sections
If your template includes sections like staff cards or feature blocks with images, you can edit those images too.
- Click on the element (e.g. a staff member card) and choose to update the photo
- Select from your uploaded images or upload a new one
- Add alt text to the image
- Note: some pre-built elements don't support image links directly, but you can add a link to the card's button instead
Setting a Background Image for a Text Section
You can set any section's background to be an image instead of a plain colour.
- Click the pencil icon on the section you want to edit
- Go to Background Style and drag and drop or select an existing image
- Set the fit to Cover so the image fills the section without gaps
- Adjust horizontal alignment (left, center, right) and vertical alignment (top, center, bottom) to focus on the right part of the image
- Confirm the image, then go to Block Style to increase the padding (e.g. 80 top and bottom) so the section is tall enough for the image to be visible
Setting a Background Image for an Entire Page
To use one image as the background across a whole page:
- Go to the Page Settings tab and open Page Style
- Find the background section and choose to add an image instead of a colour
- Select an existing image from your library
- Use the opacity/overlay slider to control how visible the image is — 0% shows the full image, 100% makes it fully transparent behind the overlay colour
- Preview the page after saving to see how it looks across the full layout
